Overview:
Rob Gregory, Nature Conservancy volunteer and member of the Hubbard Bike Club of northeastern Pennsylvania, will present mountain biking destinations done in a day at REI in Conshohocken on Thursday, June 17 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Rob will talk about some mountain biking options in the Lackawanna Valley — within a two-hour drive from Philadelphia.  From single track that will challenge the most advanced rider, to family-friendly rides just right for the beginner.  And you’ll learn about the transformation of Moosic Mountain in the Scranton area.  Once slated to become an industrial park, through the hard work of volunteer trail builders the mountain is now a destination for mountain bikers and hikers and was featured in Backpacker Magazine in the fall 2009.

Side note, my wife and I rode there this past weekend and it's like nowhere else in the state.  Large tracts of exposed conglomerate rock requiring slow technical bike handling skills to sweet flowing loamy singletrack, it's got something for everyone.  Plus it's just one area among many that make up the PA RT 6 corridor from Scranton to Carbondale.
