Sounds like a great time and a good cause. AND, I'd like to point out that there's about 10 miles of singletrack that parallels the main trail right from town by the main grocery story. It is awesome with bridges that go out over the old canal and lots of techy sections. Only problem is, with all the rain, I'm not sure what kind of shape it is in. I'm def. going to look at my schedule and see if I can make this.
Starting and finishing in Jim Thorpe, nestled in the Pocono mountains, ride along the scenic Lehigh River on a fine gravel and hardpack trail as early autumn settles over the valley. It's a beautiful setting for a bike ride.
Create your own distance and turn around at any point, or ride all the way to White Haven and back for a 52 mile route. Once on the main trail you will cross only one road! It doesn't get much better than that.
And what better reason than to help Nephcure fight kidney disease and save lives! We'll meetup for beers and eats at Molly Maguires after the ride - a great day out!

I live for singletrack!
That's great - hope you can make it.
We're trying to figure out how to incorporate that section of singletrack into a "special" course for the ride in the future, but can't have a ton of folks from the charity ride on there at once. Perhaps a limited registration for the singletrack course. For now, we're just trying to get the event known - first couple years, building word-of-mouth. We'll see how it goes. We just thought it was time for an off-road charity ride. ; )
Thanks for you interest and comments!
Cheers,
k
If anyone can help us with this, we'd really appreciate it.
I posted our Mad Scot Trail Ride on the Meetup group for Philadelphia Mountain Biking, but we need someone who is an organizer there to announce the posting so others can see it. I just joined the meetup, but I'm new and no one there knows me, so their hesitant to announce it. If someone could vouch for our ride, that woudl be great. I can talk to you about the ride if you'd be more comfortable vouching for it that way.
Our meetup ride post is here: http://www.meetup.com/mountainbiking/events/35014222/
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks so much!

I'd like to thank Steve Harris and Chris Hunter for posting our Mad Scot ride here at PMBA. I just joined PMBA today - what a great organization - you guys do great work!
A friend of mine, Jim Gilbert, knows Steve and made the connection. Jim is a co-organizer of the Mad Scot Trail ride. This is our 2nd year organizing the ride - it's the only off-road charity ride in the area, really nice trail along the Lehigh River. Plus, what other ride starts with a shot of whisky and ends w/ beers at Molly Maguires? See our site for details. ; )
We hold the ride on honor of our friend, Colin Mackay - who is a real Scot from Scotland. Colin has a rare form of kidney disease and the ride raises money for NephCure to help find a cure.
We have no registration fee or findraising requirement. We just ask that you donate what you can and tell yoru friends about the ride.
For full info, visit our site at: http://MadScotTrailRide.org
You can register with NephCure from there and you'll have a personal fundraising page.
Thanks for your support! Come out, have fun!
Cheers,
k
