Don’t forget – Saturday is PMBA/Launch Day AKA PMBA/Spring Day.

On Saturday July 16th PMBA & Launch Bike Park (Spring Mountain) will be partaking in our first PMBA/Launch Day.  While Launch Bike Park is known for it’s downhill terrain the day will also feature guided XC rides, a new beginner friendly trail (swilrz), kids course & kid’s race, discounted lift tickets & FREE food & drink for all PMBA members.

We will also be serving Rita’s water ice at a discounted rate!

The event is from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm & the weather is looking beautiful at 83 degrees!

So come on out support the mountain & meet some new riders!

someone asked me this question & I didn't really think about this till now, but is the XC  course at Spring Mtn doable w/a 29er?

Rob, come on, please. Did you

Rob, come on, please. Did you really ask that question? You could ride the trails on a tricycle if you wanted. Well, ok, maybe not 3 wheels, but I really don't know of any trail anywhere in the world that you couldnt ride a 20", 24", 26" or 29" wheel size... Your question is completely subjective. But I still love ya Bonkers!!! Sealed

trike?

LOL- 3wheeled DH race?

ok, I know but I had to just verify the answer to that question.. you're right though- Spring DID hold XC races there back in the day so 29r's should be fine on the course.

And the official Launch answer is:

And the official Launch answer is:

The lift accessed/gravity trails can be ridden on a unicycle if the riders skill level is there. We have had many riders come up on a 26" hard tails and rip down every trail with ease. Again, it’s all in the rider ability.

I would answer the questions like this as follows:

The lift accessed trails at Launch range from a couple fast rolling downhill single track trails, to seriously steep rooty and rocky DH and wood stunt style trails. How comfortable a rider is will determine how advanced a trail they will be able to ride. A dual suspension bike with 4" or more travel is recommended, but not required. (All trails at one time or another have been navigated by riders on 26" hard tails.)

Like all days the park is open, there will be many Launch Guides on hand to take riders down trails to show them the ropes and assist. Based on the riders skill level and interest the Guides will take them on suitable trails. All larger stunts/jumps/drops are clearly labeled and are able to be navigated around if a rider is not comfortable riding it.

There will also be a clearly marked (approximately 4 mile long) single track, cross country loop that takes riders from the parking lot up, down and around the mountain. PMBA will have ride leaders on hand to guide some group rides on the cross country loop. The complete cross country trail ranges from mild to steep climbs and descents with some some occasional challenging rock areas that are optional hike-a-bike spots. All-in-all challenging and fun for all rider levels.

Come on out and have fun

We hope to see lots of you out at Launch tomorrow. Weather is looking perfect and it's gonna be an awesome day, lots of fun riding and hanging out. They prepped the xc loop and mapped it out for those who don't want to ride the rocky DH trails... However, just about all the trails (except the black diamonds) have "go-arounds" so you can sample the gravity trails and check them out without having to hit anything... Many people enjoy the trail that a bunch of PMBA peeps spent many hours working on to have lots of flow...

This is NOT a public park, so you can bring beer and enjoy responsibly in the pits. We will have a full set up of tents and food. Bring a chair to relax in too...

Let the good times flow....

Thanks everyone!

The family had a great time on Saturday!  When I asked Aubrey what her favorite part of the weekend was, she told me it was watching all the people do the cool tricks on their bikes.  I'm sure in a few years, she'll be out there hitting the jumps with the rest of you!

Thanks to Adrien for taking me out on the XC course... although I thought we were just going to do the Fire Road to the Swirls trail Laughing.

Thanks to all who made it a great day for us!

For people of all walks of life the bicycle is the great unifier. Brothers and sisters on two wheels, another cyclist is a friendly face in a crowded sea.
