Launch 6/26/2011 report

Wow, fellas, another great day was had at Launch. There was a deep crew from Philly representing, at least 12 at my last count... I had so much fun riding with everyone and the hanging out part was awesome too... We hung out for an hour or two after we got done riding and had good times...

I just want to give a huge shout out to Josh and his new Transition TR-250 bike. He let me take it for a run, and I took it down Wally's Leg Trail (aka PMBA Trail) I know this trail the best and it has the most flow in my opinion... I was holding back a little in the beginning, because I like to know a bike well before I jump it and ride it like my own. I like to set up my suspension and know what my bike is going to do on the jump faces... But I must say I felt real comfortable on this bike and I let go of holding back pretty quickly and let er rip... I hit everything on the trail including the big step-down towards the end. The bike handled it real nice and the thing was real quick to respond to my moves... It was real snappy and pedaled up to speed quick... Definite advantages over a full downhill rig like mine, but also some hold backs. The DH rig with dual crown fork is more stable at speed on the rocks, no doubt... But I will say this: there is no better bike "out of the box" at Launch than the TR-250... If you have ridden Launch on a dual suspension bike with 6" or less suspension, and enjoyed it and wish you could go a little faster and enjoy it more, look into the Transition TR-250... Talk to Rob at his new shop, Community Bikes down in South Philly, and he will take good care of you....

Let the good times flow....

Launch sure looks awesome and

Launch sure looks awesome and I only saw the bottom! Great to see the tents and so many local riders up there. So cool Elisa lives 2 miles down the Perkiomen trail and it leads right to the park. Actually there looked to be a lot of XC lines all around the place and Kenn says they used to do XC races there back in the 90's. I hear there's a couple XC  climb lines and a couple lines ridable by mortals on the way down. I look forward to checking it out soon.

yeah there were quite a bit

yeah there were quite a bit of xc races there at Spring. crazy to think that when you get inside to see the trails firsthand. I thought I saw something on our front page about the trails being marked for the PMBA day on the mountain in July.

I'm thinking that I'll be there for this event & if so I may try to man a grill in between runs.

Josh is brave for letting Lou ride his new bike so soon! hahaha!

Still can't ride so I built

Great day at Launch. It seems they always are. The first XC race I ever tried was at Spring back in the day and it was a sweet course. Those trails are still out there.

I am still recovering from an injury and cannot mtbike yet so I spent the day building. Here's a shot of the rocks I moved (the ones without dirt on them yet). This berm is going to double in size and improve the flow from the small step down above it. If you recognize this line you know it needs it.
