Throughout the year FOW host many trail maintenance days in the Wissahickon; PMBA encourages our members to take part in the FOW trail maintenance efforts.

Upcoming Volunteer Day Schedule

Trail Ambassadors kick-off the spring along Forbidden Drive!

Saturday, April 2

8 am to 2 pm

Trail Ambassadors kick off the spring season and celebrate a big day in the park - Philly Spring Clean-Up Day and Opening Day of Trout Season - both of which fall on April 2.

Stop by the tables at Northwestern Ave. and Valley Green Inn to find out what's happening in the Wissahickon this spring! Volunteers will be there from 8 am to 2 pm. Trash bags will be available for folks to help clean up the park. 

Trail Re-Route at Houston Meadow

10 am to 2 pm

FOW is building a sustainable re-route of the trail through Houston Meadow.The trail project is in conjunction with the Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation Meadow expansion and is part of the Sustainable Trails Initiative.  

Volunteers will help to grade trail, build rolling dips, remove invasive weeds, clean up trash, and basically do whatever is needed to help with the project!

Directions:
Meet at Houston Playground at Grakyn Lane and Sequoia Road, 19128. Parking is available along the neighborhood streets in the area.  Volunteers are encouraged to bike or carpool to the event.  

Creek Clean Up 

Saturday, April 30

Clean Up: 9 am to 11 am

(Northwestern Ave. and Forbidden Drive)

 Picnic: 11 am to 1 pm

(Fort Washington State Park)

Join us as we partner with the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association for the annual Creek Clean Up! FOW volunteers will clean up as much as we can in the northern section of the Wissahickon Valley Park in Philadelphia along the creek and nearby trails.

Friends of the Wissahickon Saturday Volunteer Days

Friends of the Wissahickon leads a service project at various locations in the Park from 10 am to 2 pm. Projects include trail maintenance, invasive weed removal, planting and clean-ups.   April through October volunteer days are typically held 3 to 4 Saturday per month.  November thru March volunteer days are typically held 1-2 Saturdays per month.
