rotating trail layout responsibilities

Seems like it might be a good idea to rotate the trail layout reponsibilities among interested members of the comittee for various projects.  This would allow for all the varying opinions and techniques to be represented.  I would like to see the responsibility " Develop detailed trail layout & trail segment projects" currently listed under the short term planning team to either become a responsibility shifted between various members of the committee (aka - one team helps layout the Summit project, but we let a different team layout the next project) or to have the layout be a responsibility handled by the entire committee.  While all trails need to accomodate the multiple user groups in the park, there seem to be varying opinions/styles on how to do this among the committee....might be nice to represent all of these opinions/styles as we move forward.

looking good & planning in advance

These plans look really great.  I def want to work with you guys to get projects planned further in advance.  Much of it is on our end at FOW in terms of getting all our ducks in a row before a project can move forward, such as getting Fairmount Park approval and having environmental assesments done (e.g. Plant Stewardship Index).

As we move forward we can disseminate some of the preliminary tasks among trail leaders to move the process along.   Certainly a lot of the project planning like logistics and the on-the-ground approach to doing the trail work, organizing volunteers, etc. could be divided up beforehand so that whenever the prelimary work is completed the project is basically ready to go (recognizing that unforseen obstacles can sometimes still stall a project no matter how much planning we do).

Trail Committee Role & Responsibilities Draft

I think we need to find someone who is willing to take pictures of the trail day activities and who can write up and post a description of what was accomplished. I think that there are only a few pictures of the GCC work. We need to better document our accomplishments. I will start taking some more pictures when Chuck and I are working on the trails.

Jon was doing this for a long
Jon was doing this for a long time. There are hundreds of pictures out there of previous days/accomplishments. Jon could help find them if needed.

One of the longer run goals

One of the longer run goals of the web committee is to have a repository of all the value added things that PMBA does.  We have talked about having a "live report" on work day hours donated per year, and also having a central place to go to see project reports and photos, we have the tools to do this now, its just a matter of people volunteering their time to type the stuff up and maintain it.

Lets revisit the needs of the trail committee in terms of exposure for projects and we'll find real estate for this stuff that is front and center.

Pictures

Tom's right - I have a lot of older pictures of TM work, but I haven't been out to many recent TM days - mostly because the clinics have taken a bite ouf ot my weekend time.  I'll try to make more future TM days, though.

We do these things not because they are easy but because they are hard.

I can try to bring a camara

I can try to bring a camara out as well, but we should mention this at the next meeting to see if we can get another volunteer who would rather take pics than play in the dirt....

The only pic you need

I think this picture says it all.  The caption could read 5 yr old out muscles his father on ridiculously hot day.

Trail building with my son

I had a great time and my son was excited to do it again.  Although he might have been more impressed with Dmitri's bike, lol.  If I get out to that section of the Wiss today I will try and snap some more pics of the trail.  Sage
