To take advantage of lengthening days and avoid dealing with the lights, we are going to move the ride up by half an hour to 5:30.
Sunset is at 7:18 and from last few rides experience it is possible to ride without lights till about 7:30-45.

BTW, Monday, Tuesday and Wed rides are not SS-only. Many of you came out and joined us. As a mater of fact out of 5 riders on the ride last night, two were geared.

Altho right now it's not raining, at least not heavy, but I do see some drizzle out of the window. We had another week of rain, and trails are still muddy, so I'm cancelling the ride tonight, Wed 06/17

We had a fair amount of rain over night, and the forecast is for 40% chance of heavy thunderstorms tonight...
I'll be watching the weather.com like a hawk, for the last minute decision, so check in here often toward the end of the day for a go-no go decision.
Right now, I'm leaning toward skipping this week, but might change it later.

I have to be out of town tonight for family obligations, so I won't be leading the ride. And it might rain anyway. I'm not if any other regulars will be there to ride. But the "official" ride is cancelled. Sorry.

The weekly rides vary in speed and skill and are loosely described in the events section on the home page. If you're brand new to riding, you're in luck- we'll be hosting a mountain bike clinic in the Wissahickon very soon!
Saturday, Sept. 19th at the Pavillion near Pachella Field (Henry Ave. & Livezey). I can't find the time, but they generally begin around 10AM and consist of a bunch of PMBA members leading small groups of riders (beginners on up!) through the park for a couple hours or so. We'll stop and answer questions, work on riding techniques, or just blast through the park as guides if that's what the group wants to do.
An event should be posted soon with more details so keep an eye on the homepage, and welcome to PMBA!
Oh, and to answer your original question I should have mentioned that Dmitri's ride is faaaaaast and stops infrequently... Dan's Thursday night ride is probably a good one to start with.

Provided that the rain holds off (only 30% chance as of right now) the ride is on at 6 PM from VGI.
If you have lights, bring them. Otherwise it will be a short ride for you, the sunset is at 7:07 tonight.
