Hi, I'm new member Dave!
I live on Green Lane just feet from the Janette St trailhead. Love it there!
Unfortunately, property rezoning efforts threaten to ultimately create a strip of townhomes between Dupont and Green lane. Rezoning was attempted years ago and refused due to non-compliance to the Environmental Controls for the Wissahickon Watershed, but we fear this variance may soon be granted!
Why is this important?
If this variance is approved, it will set a precedent for further development on the hill between Dupont and Green Lane, as well as on steep slopes in other areas in the Wissahickon Watershed!
Building means environmental damage, further runoff problems, increased traffic, congestion, less parking, and more trash, which effects our enjoyment of the park. Wissahickon is one of the greatest assets to Philadelphia.
Residents are mostly renters who do not seem to care, (quite alarming) so we're reaching out to those who enjoy the park for support.
If anyone would like to sign a petition and come out to the public hearing, your support is greatly appreciated!
Hearing Location:
Zoning Board of Adjustment
1515 Arch Street, 18th Floor Room 18-002

This is important info, especially for those of us who regularly ride from the Jannette entrance to the park. Thanks for posting.
