all pitched in to clear out trees, vines and underbrush that was
threatening some of the indigenous trees and plant life in the meadow.
Volunteers used chainsaws, bow saws and sheers to tear out the unwanted
elements and put them through a shredder. Remaining stumps were sprayed
in order to prohibit them from coming back to life.
While FOW has long been a driving force behind volunteer maintenance at
Wiss, the newly formed PMBA is hoping to bolster efforts to keep the
park and it's multi-user trail systems groomed for everyone to use by
encouraging it's members to volunteer for these monthly work days. The
work was hard, but the rewards will be a better maintained recreation
area and trail system, and hopefully better relationships between the
diverse communities that use the park.
