Anyone who missed this, missed a great day. With a crew of Curt, Kyle (Curt's younger bro), Eric, Adam, Brian, and myself, it was a hammer fest.
Curt's younger bro, not accustomed to riding DH regularly, shows that it's all a matter of speed and balls, he hit everything! Also on hand we had Adam Joelsson showing us what's up on Ripper, he went past me pretty easily, I had nothing for him. I was flailing on that trail. Curt had his own problems on ripper with a minor OTB leading to a destroyed stanchion on his 40! I'm sure he's got photos of it.
They added a lot of really awesome jumps on lower dominion as well. Cal made reference to them, but they weren't really that hard. You just need to be able to de-load them, if you preload them, you lose all your momentum. The best jump was at the entrance to that section after the first wood drop (its the jump from this photo).
Kyle shows that you don't need to be a full time knuckle to get over this stuff!
We only got one video of this, but the run before this, Brian cleaned most of this step up as well. Even after he twisted his ankle pretty bad. He rallyed up like a true soldier and put in a couple more solid rides.
All and all a great day, I am thinking about doing a mid week trip up there, maybe using a vacation day. Possibly next week.
Killer day indeed fellas. Hope to do it again soon. Did some bigger drops / jumps than I have in the past so need to keep building up the skills. Hope to start clearing all the table tops and I'll feel real good about my first DH season.
yeah sweet day. that gouge in my Fox 40 was the only downer for me. i'm sure Fulton is bummed to be out of commision for a while. that was pretty cool that he went for that double tho!
here is a photo my bro snapped of me going off that new table between the two wood ramps.
I didnt even see that they had made a ton of new ones after the first ladder. i am hoping to get back up there soon to check that stuff out. maybe i just dont have the technique down for those other ones yet, but it will come. i havent ridden most of that section yet, but it looks like a hell of a lot of fun! i cant wait to go to blue or diablo again soon, those vids looked awesome.
Nice write up Hunter. I could watch that video of the step up like 100 times, it's sick how much speed you have to carry into it! My xrays were negative but I still can't put any weight on my heel so I am definitely out for a few more weeks.....awesome day though.
Looks like it was epic, Diablo is one sick Fun Factory, sorry to have missed that day. Brian hope you are healing well, obviously injuries are part of the sport, and we have a few soldiers down, but their spirit is what makes our crew strong!
Those are great videos...
FARKIN FARK!!
